Altamira castle

Altamira Castle (Alcázar de la Señoría) is located in town of Elche (Elx) next to the Municipal Park. The fortress was built in XII-th - XII-th centuries, and later was renovated with brick exterior in the XV-th century. In 1913 it became a fabric plant and later has been used as the town hall and as a prison during the Spanish Civil War.
Nowadays it hosts Elche Archaeology and History Museum.
