Prehistoric cave paintings since the Neolithic were discovered in the rock caves of La Sarga (municipality Jijona) south of Alcoy. The site dating to c. 10,000/6,500 years ago. The drawings belong to the schematic phase of rock painting - the figures were first outlined and subsequently filled in with very fine brushstrokes.
