Roman Village of Rio Verde

The ruins of Roman Village of Rio Verde (Villa Romana de Rio Verde) are situated between Marbella and Puerto Banus. This is one of Marbella’s most important historic sites.
Some of the remains were known from XVIII-th century but most of the site was discovered in 1960 by the archaeologists Carlos Posac Mon and Señor Fernando Alcala Marin. The site includes a patio surrounded by pillars and 12 rooms designed to give light to the interior rooms of the building. Well-preserved mosaic floors dating from the 1st and 2nd centuries can be appreciated here.
