Cave dwellings
Type: Archeological
The ancient cave dwellings (Cuevas Al Jatib) in the village of Las Cuevas de
Baza (municipality of Baza, Granada) are typical for the entire province of Granada. Some of them are still inhabited by families who passed them down for generations or serve as seasonal retreats from the heat or cold, but many have been renovated into cozy rural house rentals.
In the past these dwellings were provided refuge for Muslim farmers and gypsy miners but nowadays are tourists attraction and offers shelter for travelers looking for an off-beat retreat far from the tourist hordes.
