Elda is known for its footwear industry and the Footwear Museum (Museo del Calzado ) is one of main tourist sites in the town. The museum traces the making and design of footwear from medieval times to the present. Exhibits include the tools and machines involved in the shoe making process as well as displays of footwear from all over the world.

There are displayed shoes used by royalty, spurred boots worn by medieval knights, flamenco dancing shoes and more.
