Cala Millor beach resort
Type: Beach resort
Cala Millor is the largest and most popular resort on the east part of the island of Mallorca (Balearic Islands). It is situated in municipality of Sant Llorenc des Cardassar a little more than an hour's drive from the capital, Palma de Mallorca. Cala Millor (which means Better Bay) is also situated close to the tourist resorts of Sa Coma and Cala Bona (Good Bay). The first tourist accommodation, the Hotel Eureka was built in 1933. At present the town has 61 hotels and about 65 self-catering apartments.
Cala Millor is very much a family resort with a golden sandy beach stretching for about a kilometer in front of the many hotels, bars and restaurants that line the long promenade.
Cala Millor’s beach is considered to be one of the best on the island. The main promenade along it is ideal for people who enjoy long strolls along the waterfront.
For tourists who are fed up with sunbathing and need a break there are other options to spend their time. There are regular trips in glass-bottom boats which start from Cala Millor and go south with several stops at beautiful coves along the way. Another popular activity is the Zoo Safari on the road to Porto Cristo near Sa Coma. There is a go-carting track on the main road out of town. Golfers can use three courses: at Son Servera, Canvamel and Pula.
