Caves of Santimamine

Caves of Santimamine (Cuevas de Santimamine) are located in municipality of Kortezubi (Basque country). They were discovered in 1917.
The caves were inhabited by man about 12,000 years ago and on the walls of one small chamber were found paintings of bison and other animals made by the prehistoric cave dwellers. The paintings are not available for the public in order to be preserved but tours to other parts from the caves are available by guided tour.
