Old celtic village "Castro de Santa Tegra"
The Castros are old celtic buildings (the celts came to Galicia 2800 years ago and they built their villages in the best naturally defended places).
Castro de Santa Tegra is the biggest found. It is situated near town of A Guarda (southwest of Galicia), in a Minos`s riverside mount, near hispanic-portuguese border.
This castro dates back from the emperor Augusto`s period, around the I century before Christ.
The distribution of "Castro de Santa Tegra" consists of neighborhoods, structured by streets and narrow squares. There are some reconstructed houses, with a circular based construction and where it is usual to find typical elements and archaeological construction traces such as stone ovens.
The castro was left at the end of Julio and Claudio`s period, around 68 after Christ, and it is, therefore, a roman castro.
There is an archaeological museum opened beside the castro where lots of found objects 9sculptures, coins and tools) are shown.
