Columbus Monument in Barcelona was first opened to the public on the 1st of June 1888. It separates the end of the La Rambla boulevard with the Port Vell harbour area in central part of the city.
The memorial is 51m tall. The statue of Columbus on the top has his index finger pointing symbolically towards the new world. Visitors can go up the monument in a lift to enjoy excellent panoramic views of the city.
