Festival of Virgin de los Desamparados (Virgin of the Helpless) is held on the second Sunday in May. Virgin of the Helpless is a Patron Saint of Valencia City.
Once a year the virgin is carried in a procession of flower petals from the Basilica in Plaza de la Virgin to the cathedral of Valencia. At the end of the festival the Placa de la Virgin is a blanket of flowers.
