Pablo Ruiz Picasso (born on 25th  October 1881 in Malaga) is one of the most famous citizen of Malaga and has his own museum in Plaza de la Mercel in the old town of Malaga. The "Museo Picasso Malaga" was created in response to Pablo Picasso’s desire for his work to be seen in his born city.

The museum was set up thanks to the combined efforts of Christine and Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, whose donations form the Museum Collection, and the Autonomous Government of Andaluci`a. The latter fostered an ambitious project to build a museum devoted to an artist whose styles and techniques changed the course of modern art.
