Cau Ferrat Museum
Type: Museum
Museo del Cau Ferrat is situated in Racó de la Calma (the Quiet Corner) quarter in Sitges. Its history: In 1892 the painter Santiago Rusiñol (1861-1931) bought by the sea two fishermen’s homes from the 14th century, demolished them and built his residence-studio which he named Cau (refuge or shelter) because he wanted it to be a refuge for poetry lovers and Ferrat (iron-shod) for his wrought-iron collection. In 1933, 2 years after the dead of the painter, Cau Ferrat was turned into a museum.
