Timanfaya National Park
Type: Reserve
Timanfaya National Park (Parque Nacional de Timanfaya) is located on Island of Lanzarote (one of the Canary Islands), in the west part of the island, north of Yaiza and west of San Bartalome. The park encompasses a massif that was formed by the volcanic eruptions of 1730-1736 and this is the reason тhe colour of the landscape varies from red to black. In the center of the area is situated Montañas de Fuego (Mountains of Fire), whose depths remain active, just as they do at Islote de Hilario, where the temperature of the subsoil is so high that a twig dropped into a hole will immediately catch fire.
