Los Cristianos beach resort
Type: Beach resort
Los Cristianos is a resort town situated in municipality of Arona, on the south coast of the Canary Island of Tenerife. The town is huddled between the mountains of Montana Chayofita and Montana Guaza. Unlike its bustling neighbour, Playa de las Americas, this pretty town has a history that goes back to the 50s, long before the tourist boom of the 1970’s and 80s. For many years this resort was a quiet fishing village and the humble origins of the older buildings can still be seen in their typical Canarian architecture.
Nowadays however, the town offers a variety of holiday attractions. It has two golden sand beaches, plenty of bars and restaurants and a year-round sunny climate. There are also numerous excursions offered at the town’s busy port including dolphin and whale watching as well as game fishing trips and party cruises.
The two beaches of Los Cristianos are of world class level. The main beach (Playa de Los Cristianos) is a sandy beach sheltered by the Harbour and boasts a number of facilities including water sports, beach volley ball, showers and a children`s play area. Las Vistas Beach is located in the next bay beyond the Harbour. It is an artificial beach protected by break-waters and also boasts a number of facilities including water sports, showers and a tourist information site.
There is one more beach, a rocky, black-sand beach in the Rincon area of Los Cristianos. This beach has no real facilities but is popular with Naturists.
